Orange Remain Undefeated in ACC With Victory Over Hokies

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Syracuse Volleyball (8-6, 4-0 ACC) remains undefeated after a road clash against Virginia Tech (9-6, 2-2 ACC) on Sunday afternoon inside Casell Coliseum. The Orange bested the Hokies in a four-set battle (25-15, 18-25, 25-19, 25-22). 

 

“I am so happy for this team,” said head coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam. “We knew coming into the match that it was going to be a tough one for us, especially playing on the road, which is never an easy feat. However, our squad was locked in and accomplished the goal, to come out the other side with a win!” 

 

‘Cuse conquered the Hokies in the first set by 10 points, 25-15. Virginia Tech tied things up in the secod frame, capturing the set 18-25, over SU. Syracuse punched its ticket to victory over the third and fourth sets, not allowing the Hokies to put up more than 22 points in either of the remaining sets. 
 
The Orange paced the matchup in points (67-52), kills (49-42), aces (11-7), blocks (7-2), assists (45-39), and digs (50-43).
 
Polina Shemanova posted another double-double, hitting 24 kills and 17 digs. Viktoriia Lokhmanchuk recorded a career high five service aces. Riley Hoffman logged 23 assists in the matchup as well. 
 
Syracuse will return to the Hill for a two-match home stand, facing Notre Dame on Friday, Oct. 7th at 7 p.m. and No. 2 Louisville on Sunday, Oct. 9th at 1 p.m….
