Madison, Wis. – Sarah Franklin and Charlie Fuerbringer of the Wisconsin volleyball team earned a pair of Big Ten weekly awards, announced by the league Monday afternoon. Franklin was named Co-Player of the Week, while Fuerbringer was named Setter of the Week for their performances this last weekend.
Outside hitter Sarah Franklin led the offensive charge for the Badgers with a 2-0 weekend, including a sweep over No. 3 Penn State. Franklin averaged 4.67 kills per set with a .431 hitting percentage with zero hitting errors (28-0-65). In both sweeps, her hitting percentage never dipped below .400. Defensively, Franklin also chipped in with 2.50 digs and .33 blocks per set. In six sets, Franklin averaged 5.25 points per set. This week, Franklin shares the honor with Purdue’s outside hitter Eva Hudson. The honor is the second time Franklin achieved this in 2024, and seventh of her career.
Freshman setter Charlie Fuerbringer recorded her sixth and seventh double-double of the season, with an average of 11.67 assists per set and 4.00 digs per set. She also chipped in with 4.0 total blocks and 4 kills for an average of .67 blocks and kills per set. This marks the second weekly league award for Fuerbringer, but first Setter of the Week honor.
Next up, No. 6 Wisconsin will travel to California for matches against No. 23 USC and UCLA beginning November 14 with the second match against UCLA on November 16.
