SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Junior Sydney Palazzolo earned All-ACC Second Team honors announced by the conference office on Monday, Nov. 27.
Palazzolo led the Irish offensively this season as she recorded a team-best 389 kills and 50 service aces. She finished the regular season 16th in the nation in aces per set (.51) and 59th in the nation in kills per set (3.85).
The outside hitter led the ACC in kills (389), points (461.5) and points per set (4.57). Palazzolo was also second in the conference in kills per set (3.85) and service aces (50). She hit the 1,000 career kills milestone this season as well after recording 20 kills at Virginia to hit 1,000 kills exactly; she currently sits at 1123 career kills after her junior season.
“We are so proud of Sydney and grateful for her contributions to our program this year,” said head coach Salima Rockwell. “She’s not only an offensive threat and a phenomenal volleyball player, but a wonderful human being. She is so deserving of this honor for so many reasons!”
