CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Pitt Volleyball head coach Dan Fisher has been named the 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I Coach of the Year.
Fisher received the honor after leading Pitt to its fourth straight NCAA Volleyball Championship Semifinal appearance and the overall No. 1 seed in the tournament for the first time in program history. At the end of the regular season, the Panthers were the only team in the nation with just one loss on the season, finishing the conference slate at 19-1 and the regular season at 29-1.
He led the Panthers to their first-ever AVCA No. 1 ranking back on September 16, and held the ranking through the remainder of the season.
The Panthers earned an outright ACC championship after a 3-1 win against Louisville on November 27.
Under the guidance of Fisher, the Panthers had four named to the 2024 AVCA All-American teams, headlined by Olivia Babcock, Rachel Fairbanks and Torrey Stafford on the first team, while Bre Kelley was named to the second team.
Fisher is just the eighth head coach with a winning percentage over .800 in his first 10 seasons of Division I women’s volleyball and is the first coach from Pitt to receive the prestigious award.
Fisher has an overall career record of 396-80 (.849) and a Pitt coaching record of 320-68 (.825).
