GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Pitt middle blocker Serena Gray has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, and Virginia Tech setter Hanna Borer is the league’s Freshman of the Week.
Gray led Pitt to a 2-0 weekend with an incredible display of efficiency on offense. The Temple City, California, native posted two double-digit kill performances, while hitting over .500 in both matches. Her .750 hitting percentage against North Carolina is the highest by a Panther with 10-plus kills since 2020. She followed that with a season-high 14 kills on .522 hitting in Pitt’s four-set victory over NC State. This is her fourth time hitting .500-or-better in consecutive matches with at least 10 attempts in her two years at Pitt.
Borer, a native of Lewis Center, Ohio, recorded her fifth double-double of the season on Friday in the 3-2 win over Clemson. The freshman had 34 assists and 14 digs, helping the Hokies hit at a .249 clip with 68 kills in the win. She also added an ace for Tech. Against No. 13 Georgia Tech, Borer tallied 18 assists and six digs. She also recorded a kill against the Yellow Jackets. She also helped the Hokies hit .258 in the second set with 13 kills.
