Poland 1 and India, the top two squads from the preliminary round, are set to face off in a battle for the first-ever men’s beach paravolley world championship title on Sunday, June 2 in Yunyang, Chonqing, China.

The highlight of Day 3 of the 2024 WPV Beach Paravolley Men’s World Championship was the semifinals, where Poland 1 and India, secured their places in the final with convincing wins.

Poland 1 continued their unbeaten streak by overpowering Slovakia in their semifinal encounter. Poland 1 showed top form with a commanding 2-0 (21-14, 21-17) win, marking their flawless performance in the tournament.

India’s semifinal matchup against Latvia demonstrated the former’s impeccable performance with a 2-0 (21-19, 21-8) victory that set the rematch against Poland 1, the same team that gave their only defeat in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the day started with the completion of the pool play matches, with India securing solo second place with a stellar 2-0 (21-11, 21-15) victory over Poland 2, while Poland took pole position after dominating Australia 2-0 (21-10, 21-11).

 

The final preliminary round match between Latvia and Slovakia provided a nail-biting finish for the former, despite a tough loss in the opening set at 21-8. The Latvians demonstrated their resilience in the second frame with at 21-16 and clinched the match in the third set 15-12.

 

The quarterfinals followed with Slovakia and Latvia winning their encounters with Poland 2 and Australia, respectively. Slovakia, despite their earlier loss, bounced back in the tiebreaker with a scoreline of 21-16, 20-22 and 15-6. Latvia’s second win of the day came against Australia with a 2-0 (21-11, 21-16) scoreline.
