PVA President Ehab Hassanein spotlights Arab Sports Federation for Persons with Disabilities to IPC President

ParaVolley Africa President Ehab Hassanein, representing the Arab Sports Federation for Persons with Disabilities, seized the opportunity to illuminate the organisation’s initiatives to Andrew Parsons, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

This momentous occasion took place on the sidelines of the 8th International Para Athletics Meeting in Marrakech, Morocco, marking a significant milestone in promoting Para sport across the Arab and African regions.

Hassanein has also highlighted his great work in sitting volleyball, organising the Paris 2024 Paralympic qualifier for the African zone in Lagos, Nigeria, and also the inaugural Afro-Arab Sitting Volleyball Club Championship in Cairo, Egypt, where World ParaVolley President Lori Okimura was a guest of honour.

He is grateful to the support of the WPV President and underlined his commitment to be the catalyst for development of sitting volleyball in the African zone.

Hassanein is also grateful for Professor Hamid Al-Ouni, President of the Moroccan Paralympic Committee, for his great efforts in organizing the wonderful Marrakech Athletics Championships.

Hassanein, a former Paralympian who participated at Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992 and host of the weekly programme for people with disabilities at Nile Sport Channel, is also the first one to lead as President of Africa and the Arab Federation for Disabled Sports, and a Board member of World ParaVolley.

During the meeting with Andrew Parsons, Hassanein thanked Sheikh Khalid bin Thani, Honorary President of the Arab Federation, for his great support of the Arab Sports Federation for Persons with Disabilities and the Federation’s development of serving people with disabilities.

Accompanying Hassanein were esteemed members of the Union, including Asker Al-Harthy, First Deputy of the Federation from Saudi Arabia, Hamid Al-Aoun, Vice President of the Federation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Marrakech Forum, Ismail Al-Marzouqi, a Federation member from the UAE, and Dr. Amer Al-Sha’ar, a council member from Jordan.

In a gesture of appreciation and recognition, President Parsons extended warm regards to the members of the Arab Federation, expressing optimism for their future endeavors. The meeting also witnessed a moment of honour as Hassanein and Mr Al-Harthy were both recognised for their exemplary leadership and contributions to advancing the Federation’s mission.
