Rackham Watt Announces Promotion of Kelsey Campeau to Assistant Coach


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – After serving as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2022 campaign, Kelsey Campeau has been promoted to assistant coach ahead of the 2023 season, head coach Eve Rackham Watt announced Friday.
 
“We are thrilled to announce Kelsey Campeau as a full-time assistant coach with our program,” Rackham Watt said. “There was no doubt she was the best fit for the position, and we feel fortunate that she chose to stay on staff. Working with Kelsey this past year, I was able to see her passion for the sport and a real ability to connect with our student-athletes. Kelsey has already had a positive impact in our gym, and I am looking forward to expanding her role moving forward.”
 
Campeau joined the program in March of 2022 after completing her collegiate career at UCLA in the fall of 2021. A former defensive specialist for the Bruins, Campeau assists with Tennessee’s servers, serve-receivers and defensive units while.
 
“As someone starting my coaching career, I couldn’t think of a better place to be,” Campeau said. “Eve is an incredible person to work for. I wanted to work for a passionate and driven woman and work at a place where women’s sports are important, and there’s no better place to be in the country than the University of Tennessee. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to keep working with this team and staff. I love this group so much. The fall can’t come soon enough.”
 
In her first year on Rocky Top, Campeau was instrumental in helping Ashllyn King transition from an outside hitter and defensive specialist to libero, where she started at during the final 19 matches of the season. She finished the season with 299 digs, 78 assists, 13 aces and 10 kills thanks in part to Campeau’s guidance.
 
A Costa Mesa, California, native Campeau played in 166 sets during her UCLA career and tallied 88 digs, 14 assists and scored 11 aces. She set career-highs during her final season with 52 digs and nine service aces.
 
Campeau made three trips to the NCAA Tournament as a player with the Bruins – reaching the second round in 2019 and 2020 before advancing to the regional semifinals in 2021. She graduated from UCLA with a degree in political science.
