Madelynn Strzelczyk has been named RRAC Setter of the Week seven times this season.
RRAC recognizes volleyball players of the week for Oct. 11-17

WACO, Texas — Vivica Price-Spraggins of Xavier University (La.) garnered the RRAC Volleyball Attacker of the Week award for Oct. 11-17. Madelynn Strzelczyk of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) continued her string of RRAC Setter of the Week honors, and OLLU’s Tina Trevino was recognized as the RRAC Defender of the Week for the same dates. This is the eighth set of weekly awards for the 2021 RRAC volleyball season.
Price-Spraggins tied her season high with 12 kills while committing no errors in the Gold Nuggets’ 3-0 sweep over Loyola University (La.). The fifth-year middle blocker from Chicago achieved a .667 hitting percentage with 4.0 kills per set. Price-Spraggins is Xavier’s career hitting percentage leader, and she has posted a .522 average in her last five matches. The Gold Nuggets hold at 5-1 atop the RRAC East Division and evened their overall record at 6-6.
Strzelczyk captured her fifth consecutive award and seventh this season while raising her play to a new level. The sophomore setter from Marion, Texas, averaged 13.0 assists per set in victories over Wiley College (Texas) and Paul Quinn College (Texas). Strzelczyk accumulated a total of 91 assists with 53 coming in four sets against Wiley. She moved up to 11th in the NAIA with 10.9 assists per set this season. The Saints climbed to 8-0 in the RRAC West Division with a mark of 14-3 in all matches.
Trevino generated 34 digs in OLLU’s 2-0 week. The freshman defensive specialist from Laredo, Texas, managed 22 digs against Wiley and averaged 4.9 digs per set for the week. Trevino maintained her season average at 4.9, which is 52nd best in the nation.
