Blossom Named Big Ten Co-Setter of the Week


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State senior Gabby Blossom received her second Big Ten Setter of the Week award of the season on Monday.  She picked up the honor after excelling both offensively and defensively in matches against Rutgers and then-No. 6 Purdue over the weekend.
 
Blossom averaged 11.11 assists/set and 4.44 digs/set over nine sets against Rutgers and Purdue. She posted back-to-back double-doubles with a career-high 20 digs in both matches. She tallied 42 assists in a 3-1 win over the Scarlet Knights and 58 in a five-set loss on the road against the Boilermakers.
 
Blossom has posted a double-double in assists and digs in four consecutive matches and eight times during the season.
 
It is the sixth Big Ten Setter of the Week award of Blossom’s career. She won three as a sophomore, one as a junior and two so far this season.
 
Penn State goes on the road to take on a pair of ranked Big Ten opponents this weekend. The Lions play at No. 12 Minnesota on Friday and at No. 3 Wisconsin on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. (ET) and both will air live on Big Ten Network.
