RRAC volleyball weekly awards announced for Oct. 10-16

WACO, Texas — Camila Ramirez of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) earned recognition as the RRAC Volleyball Attacker of the Week for Oct. 3-9. OLLU’s Lauren Reynard claimed the RRAC Setter of the Week award, and Linda Mungai of Xavier University (La.) collected another RRAC Defender of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the eighth set of conference awards for the 2022 volleyball season.
Ramirez had a big week to lead the Saints to two victories at Louisiana Christian University. The sophomore outside hitter from El Paso, Texas, averaged 3.6 kills per set as OLLU posted wins of 3-1 and 3-0. Ramirez registered a total of 25 kills with seven errors in 41 total attacks for a .439 hitting percentage. She ranks seventh in the conference with 144 kills this season. OLLU stands at 10-0 in RRAC play and 13-4 on the season.
Reynard was recognized for the fourth time this season with 8.3 assists per set in the wins over LCU. The freshman setter from San Antonio reached the 29 assist mark in both matches and contributed eight digs for the week. Reynard continues to lead the RRAC in assists (512) and assists per set (9.2).
Mungai reached double-figures in digs for the 17th time in 20 matches for the Gold Nuggets to earn her fifth weekly award. The junior libero from Busto Arsizio, Italy, posted 3.9 digs per set as Xavier dropped three cross-sectional matches at the Grand View University Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa. Mungai recorded 16 digs in a five-set loss to William Woods University (Mo.) on Saturday. She had 43 digs in the event, and she leads the RRAC with 334 on the season. Xavier holds at 10-0 in conference competition, and the Gold Nuggets will host OLLU on Friday and Saturday with the regular season conference championship on the line.
