REFEREES TAKING CHARGE OF CAVA MEN’S VOLLEYBALL NATION’S LEAGUE 2023 IN KYRGYZSTAN REVEALED

With the 2023 Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Men’s Volleyball Nation’s League just hours away before the official kickoff on June 18 at the Sports and Recreation Complex Gazprom in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, a total of six referees who will officiate at the eight-day tournament had been announced on Saturday.

Seven teams are ready to strut their stuff in the second edition of the tournament between June 18 and 25 featuring Iran, Nepal, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and hosts Kyrgyzstan, fielding two teams including Kyrgyzstan 2. Kyrgyzstan, which last year stamped their domination over the 3rd AVC Men’s Challenge Cup on their home soil, have their sights firmly set on repeatedly capturing the similar feat in the CAVA Men’s Volleyball Nation’s League.

All participating teams will play single round robin, with the team with the best performance at the end of the competition being crowned the eventual champions. The CAVA Volleyball Men’s Nation’s League 2023 will also serve as a tune-up tournament for teams to get themselves ready for the 4th AVC Challenge Cup for Men in Taipei, Chinese Taipei from July 8 to 15, 2023.

To make the referees well-prepared for this eagerly-anticipated tournament, these referees had successfully taken the Referee Clinic theoretically and practically on Saturday under the guidance of Referee Delegate Mr Mohammad Karim Shahmiri from Iran, himself Member of the AVC Referees Committee, and Deputy Referee Delegate Mr Nurlan Toichubekov from Kyrgyzstan.

Mr Shahmiri and Mr Nurlan instructed all referees in the morning Referee & VIS Clinic at the competition hall, with referees, court & referee managers & supervisors, announcers, scorers, line judges, moppers, ball retrievers & VIS staff attending.

Later in the practical part of the Referee & VIS Clinic in the afternoon, those who attended the theoretical session earlier officiated a match performed by two demonstration teams. This was to improve the quality of their roles and responsibilities while all of them are on duty during the matchdays.

According to Mr Kylych Sarbaghyshev, Secretary General of CAVA and Kyrgyzstan Volleyball Federation, around 50 persons from local organizing committee, referees and those in charge in the Referee & VIS Clinic took part in the activity at the competition hall.
