Rivalry Home Match and Road Trip this Week for #13 Volleyball


TEMPE – No. 13 Sun Devil Volleyball will play both at home and on the road this week with a pair of Big 12 matchups. Arizona State will host the first rivalry matchup against Arizona at Desert Financial Arena on Wednesday night before hitting the road for a Saturday afternoon contest at Texas Tech. 

How to Follow 

Arizona State will face in-state Arizona in Desert Financial Arena on Wednesday at 7 p.m. MST. This will be the first of two Territorial Cup Series matches this season. Fans are encouraged to wear gold, and free rally towels will be given to the first 2,000 fans. For more fan information, check out the 2024 fan guide.

On Saturday, the Sun Devils will head to Lubbock, Texas and take on the Red Raiders with the match slated for 11 a.m. MST at United Supermarkets Arena. 

Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats as well. Updates will be provided on social media on X (@SunDevilVB) and Instagram (@sundevilvolleyball). 

Sun Devil Outlook

No. 13 Arizona State (14-2, 3-1 Big 12)

  • The Sun Devils picked up two Big 12 wins this week, with home victories over Utah (3-1) and then-No. 20 BYU (3-0). The win over then-No. 20 BYU was the first loss for the Cougars this season in a sweep. 
  • In the AVCA Coaches Poll, Arizona State is now No. 13, moving up two spots. The Sun Devils have been ranked in 17 consecutive polls, 13 of which have been in the top 20. This current ranking is the highest under head coach JJ Van Niel.
  • Graduate libero Mary Shroll shined in both wins. In the victory over Utah, Shroll notched a game-high 23 digs, which was her fourth match this season with 20-plus digs and the 12th time in her career reaching that mark. Shroll led all players in the win over BYU with 17 digs. She now has had 18-straight matches with double-digit digs. 
  • Graduate middle blocker Claire Jeter had a standout week as well. In the win over Utah, she led the charge at the net with nine blocks, matching her career high. She also had 10 kills, her fourth time this season in double figures. In the win over BYU, Jeter led the team in kills with 11, which tied her season high. It was her fifth match with double-digit kills this year.
