Valley City, ND – The Presentation College Saints drop a five set thriller in Valley City, ND on Friday night. The Saints are now 8-21 overall and 5-8 in the NSAA.
The first set was a tightly contested back and forth match with the host Vikings leading 12-14 before they went on a six point run to push the score to 12-20 in favor of the Vikings. The Saints did battle back getting the score to 19-22 before going back and forth in scoring with the Vikings and the host team able to win the first set by four points.
Set two the Saints came out hot and built a 6 -2 lead before the Vikings battle back to make the game 10-7. Presentation then went on a run to push the score to 18-9. The Vikings didn’t go quietly into the night making a run of their own but in the end of set two the Saints prevailed 25-18.
Set three went much like the first set with the host using two runs after a back and forth start to take the third set 14-25 over the Saints.
With the match in the balance the Saints came out again hot in set four. After letting the host Vikings get the score to 10-8 the Saints went on an eight to two run pushing the score to 18-10. To finish out the fourth both teams went on short two or three point runs with the Saints winning the fourth set 25-18 and forcing a fifth and final set.
In the deciding set of the night neither team could build more than a two point lead over the course of the set. Unfortunately for the Saints the Vikings held that two point lead at the end of the match 13-15.
By the Numbers…
The Saints were lead in kills by Grace Tobin (JR/Mason City, IA) with 23. Kerstin Knopik (SO/Little Falls, MN) had 13 and Makynna Snow (SO/Galt, CA) had 11 to round out the Saints with double digit kills. Sydney Miller (SR/Battle Ground, WA) had 26 assists while her teammate Olivia Corey (SO/Watertown, SD) had 24 in the match. There were three Saints in double digit digs for the match including Laura Babcock (SR/Aberdeen, SD) with 35, Tobin with 28 and Cassidy Keller (SR/Canistota, SD) with 11.

Next up for the Saints is to continue their road trip in North Dakota where they will travel to Dickinson to take on the Blue Hawks of Dickinson State University to wrap up their regular NSAA season.
