Tallahassee, Fla. – The No. 3 Florida State Seminoles split day two of the Unconquered Invitational with two close matches. All matches were played to decision due to the weather.
FSU 1, No. 7 LMU 3
Florida State got off to a rocky start against No. 7 LMU. All but one court went to three sets.
Alexis Durish and Makenna Wolfe kept their set close, dropping the first set 21-19. The pair took the second set to extra points but LMU ultimately got the win 23-21.
On court two Audrey Koenig and Carra Sassack won the first set 21-18, then dropped the second set a very close 21-19. The third set was another close one as Koenig and Sassack fought hard to keep the set close. The duo battled but ended up dropping the set 15-13. This win gave LMU their second dual point.
Maddie Anderson and Paige Kalkhoff started the first set hot with a 21-12 win. The LMU pair fought back in the second set to win 21-19. Anderson and Kalkhoff found their groove in the third set and won 15-13.
Anna Long and Jordan Polo battled in three sets on court three. The duo dropped the first set 21-16 but came back in the second set to win 21-19. Long and Polo took the third set to extra points but were unable to secure the win, losing 20-18.
Court four went unfinished due to the clinching point on court three. Caitlin Moon and Audrey Rothman lost the first set 21-15 then won the second set 21-18. The score was 14-13 in the third set in favor of LMU when the match was decided.
FSU 3, No. 15 FAU 2
Court two was the only court to not go to three sets. Anna Long and Jordan Polo took the first set to extra points but ended up losing 23-21. FAU caught fire in the second set and Long and Polo could not recover, losing 21-16.
Audrey Koenig and Caitlin Moon kept their sets close on court three. The duo dropped the first set 21-18, then battled back to win the second set 21-19. Koenig and Moon caught fire in the third set with some great defensive play to win 15-10.
Audrey Rothman and Raelyn White were grinding on court four. The pair won the first set 21-19, then dropped the second set a close 21-17. The third set was taken to 0065tra points where Rothman and White could not seal the win, losing 17-15.
Court one was off to a rough start for the Noles with Maddie Anderson and Paige Kalkhoff losing the first set 21-17. The pair were not intimidated however and won the second set 21-12 off of great defense by both Anderson and Kalkhoff. The duo did not let up in the third set…
