Serving up six: Badgers concludes Spring Season at UNI


MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin volleyball has its final spring match game against University of Northern Iowa on Friday, April 26. The game with take place at the University of Dubuque’s Stoltz Sports Center with first serve starting at 6:30p.m. (CT).

1. SPRING SEASON RECAP: Badgers are coming off of a win from its spring opening match against UIC where they won in three-straight sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-13). In the home match, Wisconsin picked up right where they left off since the last time they played in the Field House. Offensively, the Badgers had 10 service aces, 10 team blocks, and hit .410 percent (83-40-6).

2. AFTER SPRING COMES FALL: This game will conclude the spring season for the Badgers and will move into preparing for fall volleyball. The roster will build from nine girls to 15. In the fall we will welcome Charlie Fuerbringer (S), Trinity Shadd-Ceres (OH), Tosia Serafinowska, Malie Chan (L/DS), Lola Schumacher (L/DS), Morgan Van Wie (S).

3. SETTING UP FOR SUCCESS: Carly Anderson wasted no time adding her skills to the Badger offense. The 5-foot 11 setter had led the Badgers with 27 assists, and led the team with three service aces. Additionally, she had four kills and two blocks in her first match as a Badger. 

4. DOUBLE-DOUBLE DEVYN: Devyn Robinson opened the spring with a double-double, 11 digs with10 kills and neareda triple-double as she added seven blocks. She was the leading player at Wisconsin in blocks, kills, and digs.



5. BLOCK PARTY: Last week the Badger out blocked UIC, 10-0. Wisconsin had led the country in blocks per set 3.07 last year with key components such as Carter Booth, returning for the Badgers Block Party. Booth was ranked fourth in the country for blocks per set (1.56) and against UIC, Booth had six blocks.




6. WORKING IN THE SPRING: When talking about the team’s work ethic in the spring, this is what Coach Kelly Sheffield had to say “This is the time of year where the fall sports are doing work without the cameras and fans. This is where we put the work in to go where you want to go.”.
