Serving up Six: Wisconsin hosts Bradley in exhibition match


 

MADISON, Wis. — No. 3 Wisconsin (30-4 in 2023) opens up its 2024 campaign with an exhibition match against the Bradley Braves on Aug. 20. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Field House. Tickets are part of UW’s season ticket package while single-match tickets are available here.

Before the season kicks off, here are six things to know:

1. BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER: For the sixth time in program history and the fourth time in the last five seasons, Wisconsin wrapped up the season with an appearance in the NCAA National Semifinals. The Badgers finished the season 30-4 overall. Wisconsin comes back as one of the nations most experienced teams. The Badgers return eight, including AVCA All-Americans Carter Booth, Sarah Franklin, Devyn Robinson, and Anna Smrek.

2. ALL-BIG TEN B1G SHOTS: Junior Carter Booth, senior Anna Smrek, and fifth year senior Sarah Franklin headline the Badgers being named to the Preseason All-Big Ten team. Wisconsin also came in second, behind Nebraska, in the preseason Big Ten polls.



3. NATIONAL POLL:
 Wisconsin opens the 2024 season ranked third in the AVCA Preseason Top-25 Coaches Poll. The Big Ten Leads the poll with five teams in the top 15, including four in the top 10.

4. BADGERS ON THE BIG SCREEN: The Wisconsin Badgers will be featured on national television 18 times in 2024. For the first time ever, women’s college volleyball will be featured twice on NBC. A total of four matches will air on NBC in 2024 and the Badgers can be seen on NBC twice; on the road at Purdue and hosting Penn State.

5. EIGHT IS GREAT: The Badgers add eight to its roster, including the No. 1 ranked setter and No. 2 overall by PrepVolleyball.com in Charlie Fuerbringer. Fuerbringer won the 2023-24 Gatorade Player of the Year in California, and was selected as USA Volleyball Junior Female Athlete of the Year. In addition the Badgers also welcome Una Vajagić, Carly Anderson, Trinity Shadd-Ceres, Morgan Van Wie, Maile Chan, Tosia Serafinowska and Lola Schumacher.

6. TOUGH ROAD AHEAD: The Badgers will play nine matches against teams ranked in the Top 25 of the final 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) coaches’ poll and 14 matches against teams that participated in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
