HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani awarded Al Rayyan volleyball team with the Amir Cup 2023 for the 2022/2023 season, after Al Rayyan defeated Al Arabi this evening by 3-0, in the final match that was held at the Aspire Ladies Gym.
After the match, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, accompanied by Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) President Ali Ghanim Al Kuwari handed Al Rayyan the Amir Cup and the gold medals, as well as a cash prize of QR 500,000.
Al Arabi, who finished second, won silver medals and a cash prize of QR 250,000.
During the match, Al Rayyan enjoyed a good start and won the first 3 set by 25-19, 25-21, 11-25.
QVA President Ali Ghanim Al Kuwari praised in a press statement following the match the performance of both teams during the final match, Al Rayyan’s win, and the development of the game in Qatar.
Al Kuwari added that Al Rayyan, a 15 time winner, demonstrated an advanced level of playing during the tournament which enabled it to snatch the title thanks to its excellent performance, despite fierce competition.
Al Kuwari said that the diversity of the winning teams this season is a positive thing that opens the way for all clubs to compete vigorously and win next season’s title, especially given how competitive this season was despite the fact that the season started late due to Qatar’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
