Sitting volleyball included in Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games sports programme

Sitting volleyball will be one of the 18 sports included in the official sports programme of the next edition of the Asian Para Games in the city of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, which will take place between October 18 and 24 in 2026.

 


The Games will feature sitting volleyball, Para archery, Para athletics, Para badminton, blind football, boccia, Para cycling (Track and Road), goalball, Para Judo, Para powerlifting, Para shooting, Para swimming, Para table tennis, Para taekwondo, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair tennis.

Between 3,600 and 4,000 athletes and officials from 45 nations are expected to Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games.

“We appreciate your effort and commitment to the development of the Paralympic Movement in the Asian region, and we hope to make the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games a great success together with you,” Asian Paralympic Committee CEO Tarek Souei said in his letter to World ParaVolley.

The fourth edition of the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, saw Iran and China capturing their fourth consecutive gold medals in sitting volleyball.

In the men’s final, Iran edged Kazakhstan 3-0, while three-time silver medallists China settled for bronze after beating Korea in straight sets; while China topped the round-robin women’s tournament, leaving Iran and Japan claiming their third-straight silver and bronze medals, respectively.
