Soaring Eagles Come up Short at Home Against Alfred on Friday Night

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles dropped their match at home against the Alfred University Saxons on Friday night in three sets. Makenna Clark notched 9.5 points, leading the Soaring Eagles in the losing effort.

TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (2-13, 0-2 Empire 8), Alfred University (9-3, 1-0 Empire 8)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Clark paced the Soaring Eagles with nine kills while Morgan Richardson ’25 and Morgan Sica ’28 rounded out Elmira’s top three with six and five, respectively.

Erin Bracken ’28 totaled 13 assists, tying her with Jessica Lucille Ramirez for second overall in the match. Only Delaney Sims had more with 18.

Asia Curkendall ’25 notched a pair of service aces on the night, with Gabriela Rodriguez ’26, Richardson, and Bracken also collecting a service each.

UP NEXT:

The Soaring Eagles are back in action tomorrow, Saturday, October 5, in Houghton, NY to take on the Highlanders. The match is slated to begin at 2:00 PM. Elmira is looking for its first program win over Houghton since 2021.
