Soaring Eagles Fall to Wolves in Four Sets on Saturday Afternoon

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Elmira College women’s volleyball team dropped its Saturday afternoon matchup to the Wolves from Keuka College in Empire 8 play, 3-1. After the Soaring Eagles took the first set 25-22, the Wolves would take the final three frames. 

Maddie Boucher ’24 finished with ten kills for Elmira, while Asia Curkendall ’25 chipped in 22 set assists. Defensively, Elmira was led by Gabriela Rodriguez ’26, who finished with 15 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • In the opening set, the Soaring Eagles would take its first lead of the match after a kill from Makenna Clark ’25 put the Purple & Gold ahead 11-10. The kill was a part of a 4-0 run for Elmira which gave the visitors an early 13-10 advantage, and after the teams traded points down the stretch, it was EC who would score four of the final five points, including three attacking errors from the Wolves, and another kill from Clark to give Elmira a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-22 first set victory. 
  • In the first set, Elmira would record ten kills compared to six and a -.121 hitting percentage for the Wolves, with Clark, Caroline Barr ’27, and Maddie Boucher ’24 each paving the way with three a piece.
