Stillman Drops Opener at Mobile, 3-0

MOBILE, Ala. – Stillman College Volleyball’s restart began Friday night with a three-set loss to the University of Mobile.

  

After falling 25-5 in the first set, Stillman dropped the last two sets 25-12 and 25-12. 

 

Stillman’s offense was limited in its first match since 2015, collecting seven total kills. Sophomore Aeraeonna Manuel led the Tigers with three kills, all in the second set. and one block to score four points. Grace Fjeldstad had three assists, Taylor Roland added two and Khadeja Bryant had one. Defensively, Roland had eight digs, while Fjeldstad and TiAna Lawrence each had six.

 

The first point of the season came on an attack error to cut Mobile’s early lead in half, 2-1. Amaria Price recorded Stillman’s first kill of the 2022 campaign to stop a 10-0 Mobile run in the first set. 

 

Abby Andrews led Mobile (8-4, 1-0 SSAC) with eight kills, followed by Layton Adams’ five kills and 10 assists. Corrina Porch-Maxey, Kendel Lee Frazer and Emily Osborne each had four kills. The Rams scattered 17 service aces throughout their lineup.

 

Stillman (0-1, 0-1 SSAC) will travel to Faulkner University on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match in Montgomery.
