Swain Earns CVC All-Conference Honors

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Junior Steve Swain of the Elizabethtown College men’s volleyball team became the third player in program history to earn Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) All-Conference honors, announced by the organization Saturday evening.

Swain, collecting third-time accolades, joins Matt Schaeffer ’21 and two-time recipient Nick Baxter ’20 as the only players in program history to be selected. The Blue Jays have had one person make the CVC All-Conference in each of its first four years at the NCAA Division III level.

The Chambersburg, Pa. native continued his outstanding career at Etown, leading the team in kills (229) and kills per set (3.18). Swain was also second on the team in hitting percentage (.317) and aces (29) and third in digs (104) and total blocks (23). The juniors strong play continued in CVC play, hitting .311 with 89 kills. He recorded a career-high 22 kills in the Blue Jays’ thrilling 3-2 win against Penn State Altoona early in the season and tallied five matches with 15 or more kills. After his hot start to season, Swain earned CVC Player of the Week honors.

Including Swain, Elizabethtown returns 16 of 17 player for the 2023 season. Senior Tim Zeiber graduates as the first four-year player in program history.
