Syverson Lands NE10 Academic All-Conference Laurel

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Saint Michael’s College women’s volleyball senior Beth Syverson (Huntington, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union/Emmanuel [Mass.]) was among 102 student-athletes across seven sports selected for a Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference honor for the fall semester.

Syverson was one of 13 women’s volleyball players in the league to be recognized, and became the initial Purple Knight lauded since Natalie Moore ’17 in 2016. Syverson earned her second award of the offseason, having been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District in November.

A double major in English and Spanish, Syverson carried a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average into her senior spring. She turned in 102 kills and 40 blocks during 21 matches from the middle last fall, finishing 36th in the NE10 in blocks per set. Since transferring from Emmanuel College in Boston, Syverson has landed on the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all four semesters at Saint Michael’s while earning Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Awards each of the past two years.

The NE10 Academic All-Conference teams are chosen by a vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR). To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-Conference teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team’s competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average; and 3) completed at least one academic year at their current institution.
