Teacher Appreciation Night highlights Eagles’ weekend


EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Volleyball (4-8) faces the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. at Screaming Eagles Arena in the Screaming Eagles first home match of the Ohio Valley Conference season. Friday’s match against the Trojans will be Teacher Appreciation Night to show gratitude towards local teachers, professors, and school staff.

Teacher Appreciation Night
EVSC Foundation and Teacher Locker have partnered with USI Volleyball to bring the first-ever Teacher Appreciation Night to Screaming Eagles Arena. Fans are encouraged to bring supplies from the Teacher Locker Wish List to be donated to Teacher Locker. EVSC teachers and staff will have a chance to win a teacher gift basket, donated by Tools4Teaching.
 
Screaming Eagles Headlines:
Eagles Drop First OVC Match. The Screaming Eagles were relentless in their 3-2 loss to Eastern Illinois. It was just the second time EIU had gone to five sets.
 
You Have To #OVCit. USI is set to host Little Rock for their first home OVC match of 2023. The Eagles are 0-2 against the Trojans after falling 3-2 and 3-0 last season. USI is looking for their first conference tournament berth in the DI era, but only the top eight teams make it to the championship.
 
1,000 Assists. Junior Carly Sobieralski surpassed 1,000 career assists in the loss to EIU. Sobieralski is the first Eagle to earn 1,000 assists since Casey Cepicky (2018).
 
20 and Over Club. Three Eagles have earned 20 or more kills or digs this season. Senior Leah Anderson was the first when she had 20 digs in the win against New Orleans. Junior Carly Sobieralski had 23 digs in the loss to Bradley and senior Abby Bednar is the lone Eagle to have 20+ kills, nabbing 20 in the loss to Bradley.
 
Consistent Starts. Junior Carly Sobieralski has totaled 20 or more assists in all 12 matches. Senior Leah Anderson has racked up 10 or more kills in 10 matches while sophomore Keira Moore has nabbed 10 or more digs in the same amount.
 
Double-Doubles. Three Eagles have secured double-doubles this season….
