Team USA finalising roster for women's sitting volleyball Paralympic team

With just over 100 days to go until the 2024 Paris Paralympics, excitement is building in Colorado Springs.

Team USA’s sitting volleyball squad, which won gold at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, is gearing up for another shot at glory.

This past weekend, athletes from all over the country came together for a training camp.

One player to watch is Katie Holloway Bridge. She’s a star of the team and was named MVP at the last Paralympics. Holloway Bridge, whose foot was amputated at a young age, shared her inspiring journey.

“Because I grew up in a small town, I knew nothing different than playing able-bodied sports. I didn’t have the access to adaptive sports, and I really didn’t know they existed,” Holloway Bridge said.

“It wasn’t until I became a part of the Paralympic volleyball team that I realised I could be an athlete with a disability and love myself.”

Now, as a new mom, Holloway Bridge is eager to compete again, with her daughter cheering her on from the sidelines. She expressed her excitement: “I’m looking forward to bringing my daughter, Claire, to Paris to watch me compete this summer. It’s going to be a special moment for us.”

Team USA is aiming for a third gold medal, and they’re ready to make their mark in Paris.
