Athens, Tenn.- The volleyball team were back in action in James L. Robb Gymnasium on Thursday. The team hosted the Fisk University Lady Bulldogs.

The first set remained through the first 16 points, with an 8-8 tie through that juncture. TWU broke the tie with a seven point rally, with points from Kamari Jackson, Amya Sutton, and Megan Lee helping the team move ahead 15-8. The team went on to cruise to a 25-15 first set win, with a kill by Lee giving the team the 25th point.

The second set did not go the way the first set went. Fisk was able to take control of the set, racing out to a 10-1 lead in the set. The offense for the Lady Bulldogs could not bring them back in the set, falling 25-12 in the second set.

The tide switched back to Tennessee Wesleyan in the third set. The team turned a 2-0 deficit into a 10-6 lead. A kill by Olivia Miller continued to add to the team’s lead, making the score 13-7. A few moments later, the score moved to 22-11 on a kill by Shante Smith. Fisk made a small run near the end of the set but back-to-back points by Madison Coffey and Miller gave the team a 25-19 third set win and a 2-1 match lead.

The fourth set saw the Lady Bulldogs run out to a 3-0 lead. Fisk countered with four straight points to move ahead 4-3, setting back and forth action in motion. The set looked bleak for TWU as Fisk held a double-digit, 23-13 lead. The team made a run at ending the set in four though, scoring 10 of the next 11 points to pull within one point of the lead with the scoreboard reading 24-23. Fisk scored the final point of the set on the play, forcing a fifth and deciding set.

In the fifth set, the Lady Bulldogs showed they were not going to let the match go away from them, scoring 10 of the first 12 points to lead 12-2. The team…
