Stanford has won 10 of the last 16 Pac-12 Championships and 19 overall since 1986. The Cardinal has finished in the top 4 in the conference in 35 of 36 seasons. The coaches have correctly chosen the champion 21 times out of the past 36 polls.
Kipp is being named preseason all-conference for the third time in her career, while Baird and Miner are earning the honor for the first time. Stanford and Washington each have three players on the list, tied for the most in the conference.
Stanford, which received two first-place votes, totaled 107 points. Washington (117) was picked to repeat at Pac-12 champions and received eight first-place votes. UCLA (98) was third and Oregon (93) was fourth, each claiming the final first-place votes. Rounding out the top half of the poll were USC (87) and Washington State (68).
The Cardinal opens the season on Friday, Aug. 26 at Lipscomb and will also play Tennessee State on Saturday, Aug. 27 while in Nashville. Stanford will then face six teams who finished the 2021 season in the top 20 of the AVCA poll – No. 2 Nebraska (Sept. 13), No. 3 Louisville (Sept. 17), No. 5 Texas (Sept. 4), No. 7 Minnesota (Sept. 10), No. 15 Florida (Aug. 30) and No. 17 Penn State (Sept. 9).
