Three Panthers to Participate in Women’s National Team Open Program

PITTSBURGHEmmy Klika, Blaire Bayless and Haiti Tautua’a will participate in the US Women’s National Team Open Program, scheduled for Feb. 23-25 at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The Open Program is used for consideration for selection to both the Women’s National Team and the Women’s Collegiate National Team (WCNT) and is open to current and recently graduated college-age athletes born in the years 1999-2005* inclusive.

Junior libero Emmy Klika had a standout 2023 season for the Panthers, resulting in AVCA All-American Honorable Mention, AVCA All-East Coast Region Team and All-ACC Second Team honors. Klika also excelled in the classroom, being named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District and to the All-ACC Academic Team. After the Open Program last year, Klika was named to the U21 Pan American Cup Training roster.

Tautua’a, the No. 1 recruit out of Hawaii last year, recorded 167 assists and 64 digs in her 2023 freshman campaign. She worked alongside First Team All-American and ACC Setter of the Year Rachel Fairbanks. Tautua’a registered a season-high 21 assists against JMU, adding six digs.

Bayless is no stranger to the U.S. volleyball world, as she won the U19 Pan American Cup Championship last summer and was named MVP for her efforts. She recorded 43 kills in her first season as a Panther, notching a season-high eight against Syracuse on Oct. 1.
