University of California, Merced – Women’s Volleyball Announces 2022 Schedule

MERCED, Calif. – The University of California, Merced women’s volleyball team has released its 2022 schedule, highlighted by 12 home matches and a record 20 California Pacific Conference matches.

The Bobcats 12 home matches are the most since the 2015 season, ten of which will take place during league play. The Bobcats, under head coach Ai Prachumsri, will play 27 matches overall.

UC Merced will officially start the season on August 20 at a multi-team event in Atherton, Calif. The Bobcats begin the day with Lewis and Clark State College, before playing host, Menlo College.

UC Merced will travel to the William Jessup Invitational for the fourth time in the last five years for three matches (Aug. 25-26). The Bobcats will go up against Menlo College, Southern Oregon University and Bushnell University. Bushnell is one of three 2021 NAIA National Tournament teams on the Bobcats schedule this season.

Two days later, the Bobcats will head west for a scrimmage at UC Santa Cruz. 

The Bobcats open up their home slate on September 7 against West Coast Baptist, marking the earliest home match in three years and just the first time these two teams have met since 2015.

UC Merced will begin Cal Pac play with its first three games on the road. Starting at Providence Christian College on September 7, the Bobcats will then continue their Southern California road trip at University of Saint Katherine and Westcliff University the next two nights.

Following the SoCal swing, the Bobcats return home for a season-long six match homestand. UC Merced will square off with University of Antelope Valley (9/15), La Sierra University (9/17), Benedictine University Mesa (9/22), Park University Gilbert (9/23), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (9/24), and Pacific Union College (9/29).

A trip north to Simpson University (10/1) concludes the first half of the Cal Pac slate. The Bobcats have a two-week break in the conference schedule, but will welcome PacWest opponent Fresno Pacific University to the Joseph Edward Gallo Gymnasium in the middle of that for the first matchup in program history (10/11).

The Bobcats will see all ten Cal Pac opponents once more in the second half of the season. Road matches include Antelope Valley, La Sierra, the three Arizona schools, and the regular-season finale at Pacific Union.
