Utah Beach Volleyball Celebrates Senior Day with a Pair of Wins

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Beach Volleyball matched their second-longest win streak of the season at four wins, after taking a pair of victories in their first two matches in their return home to Salt Lake City on Friday afternoon. The Utes started the day by taking down Texas A&M Kingsville, 5-0, capturing their fourth sweep across all five courts of the season.

It was a battle to the final courts to decide the winner, as Utah defeated Colorado Mesa, 3-2, in their second match of the day. Before the match got underway, the Utes celebrated the careers of their two seniors, Camille Lee and Marissa Koch.

Opening the day with a five-court sweep of Texas A&M Kingsville, each Ute pairing won their match in straight sets, as two Utah pairs kept their opponents below the 15-point mark. The pairing of Langley Griffin and Katie McAlister secured the top court for the Utes with a 21-12, 21-11 win. On the fifth court for Utah, Sonja Wessel and her new playing partner, Gwen Fife, returning to the court, took their match with a score of 21-14, 21-14. The pairing of Kylie Pitzak and Marissa Koch made quick work of their match, claiming back-to-back 21-17 set wins. Putting Utah ahead 2-0 before the second wave started their matches, the duo of Rylee Johnson and Bella Vezzani, claimed their match on the second court, 21-19, 21-13. Securing the sweep, Chloe Narancich and Lauren Sayre added the fifth and final win, 21-15, 21-19.
