MATCH WEEK
Utah Volleyball opens Pac-12 play on the road at Colorado this Thursday, Sept. 21, in Boulder, Colo. The Utes and Buffaloes kick off their conference slates at 7 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Mountain. Then, Utah returns home to host the California Golden Bears this Sunday, Sept. 24. First serve is at 12 p.m. MT in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The match will also be televised on Pac-12 Mountain.

RAMIREZ RUNNING THE BACK ROW

Starting libero Vanessa Ramirez is leading the Utah defense once again as she has done since arriving in Salt Lake City. She is third in the Pac-12 with 4.08 digs per set and has recorded double-digit digs in all but one match this season. The Pasadena, Calif., native is coming off a season high 24 digs in just four sets against Weber State. Earlier this season, Ramirez tallied 22 digs against NC State for her first match of 20-plus digs this season and now has 11 career matches of 20-plus digs after the Weber State match. She has now posted 70 matches with double-digit digs as Utah’s starting libero. Ramirez is coming off a season that saw her lead the team in digs 27 of the 31 matches, while she finished third in the Pac-12 with 4.04 digs per set. She has led the team or tied for the lead in digs in all but one match this season so far.
