MALIBU, Calif. – Utah Beach Volleyball wrapped up their regular season schedule from the ASICS Classic hosted by Pepperdine University, with a split of their final day of competition. The Utes fell to host Pepperdine, 4-1, in the opening match of the day. Utah bounced back to secure a 5-0 sweep of Hope International with their final match of the weekend.
Sonja Wessel and Gwen Fife picked up the first win of the day for the Utes against the Waves, 21-19, 21-12. On the third court, the pairing of Kylie Pitzak and Marissa Koch would battle the Pepperdine duo to a three-set contest, falling 21-19, 18-21, 15-11.
The Utes would secure the sweep against Hope International for the second consecutive day, holding each court to below 15 points. The duo of Wessel and Fife would dominate their opponents with a 21-5, 21-0 win on the fifth court. On the third court, the pairing of Kylie Pitzak and Marissa Koch secured their victory with a 21-12, 21-10 win. Chloe Narancich and Lauren Sayre earned a quick win with a 21-13, 21-8 decision.
Utah will now turn its attention to the Pac-12 Championships that will begin on Wednesday, Apr. 24. Arizona State will host the final edition of the Pac-12 Championships from Tempe, Arizona at the Sun Devil Beach Volleyball Facility.
