Utes Battle #7 California and #3 USC on Day Two of Pac-12 South Tourney

Tempe, Ariz. – Utah Beach Volleyball closed out their Pac-12 South Tournament weekend with two top-10 matches, taking on #7 California and #3 Southern California. The Utes dropped their first match of the day to Cal, 5-0, before falling in the final match of the day to USC, 5-0.
 
Marissa Koch and Kylie Pitzak were the first pairing to finish on the fourth court, falling 21-15, 21-9. Rylee Johnson and Bella Vezzani dropped their match on the second court, 21-11, 21-15. The Bears to their third point as the second wave took the court, with the pairing of Milan Ray and Sonja Wessel falling 21-9, 21-17. The team of Chloe Narancich and Lauren Sayre put up a fight in their first set, falling 23-21, the Bears would go on to take the second, 21-9. Utah’s first court pairing of Langley Griffin and Katie McAlister battled to a 21-15, 22-20 loss to the Bears.
 
Utah was tested once again in their second match of the day, with Johnson and Vezzani falling 21-13, 21-13. The team of Koch and Pitzak battled in the first set against the Trojans, dropping their first set 23-21 and falling in the second 21-11. Milan Ray and Sonja Wessel dropped their match on the fifth court, 21-9, 21-11. Narancich and Sayre dropped their match on the third court, 21-15, 21-9. Griffin and McAlister fell in their match, 21-18, 21-12.
