CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team (3-1) continues its 2023 season by hosting Old Dominion (4-2) at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 5) at Memorial Gymnasium.
All UVA volleyball regular-season matches held in Mem Gym are free to the public.
BROADCAST INFORMATION
- The match will be streamed on ACC Network Extra (ACCNX) through the ESPN app, which is available through participating TV providers that carry ACC Network.

SEASON OVERVIEW
- This year marks the 45th season of Virginia Volleyball, which held its inaugural season in 1979.
- In 44 complete seasons, UVA is 665-750 (.470).
- The Cavaliers are set to host 14 home matches in 2023.
- Head coach Shannon Wells is entering her third season at the helm.
SERIES HISTORY
- Virginia holds a 1-0 record over the Monarchs, the two sides first met in 2021 where UVA won in three sets.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Cavaliers left the Empire State with a perfect 2-0 record after competing in the Big Apple Tournament, which was hosted by Columbia.
- Virginia opened the tournament by beating Quinnipiac in four sets (Sept. 1), marking the first time the two programs faced off against each other. The Hoos would then go on to take down the Lions in five sets the next day (Sept. 2).
- First Year Lauryn Bowie led Virginia on the weekend with 33 kills total kills on a .343 hitting percentage. Bowie tallied 20 kills with 2 errors on 35 attempts (.514 clip) against Columbia, the most by any Virginia first year player since Sarah Billiard vs. Appalachian State in 2017.
- Setter Ashley Le also stood out during Virginia’s matches, registering 96 assists over the weekend and averaging 10.67 per set. Le set a career high for the second time in the 2023 campaign, notching 50 assists against Columbia, the most by a UVA player since 2018. With her performance over the weekend, Le crossed the 1,000 career assist mark.
