CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team kicks off the 2024 season, the fourth under head coach Shannon Wells, at Old Dominion’s Quest for the Crown tournament this weekend. The Cavaliers will compete in three matches, including their season opener against Marist on Friday (Aug. 31) at 4:30 p.m. before taking part in a doubleheader on Saturday (Aug. 31) against William & Mary and the Monarchs at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.

SEASON OVERVIEW
- This year marks the 46th season of Virginia Volleyball, which held its inaugural season in 1979.
- In 45 complete seasons, UVA is 673-766 (.468) all-time.
- The Cavaliers are set to host 16 home matches in 2024, including the second-ever in John Paul Jones Arena against Miami on Oct. 6.
- For the first time in program history, Virginia will face Marist (Aug. 30) and SMU (Nov. 3), which is making its ACC debut this season.

SERIES HISTORY
- The Cavaliers and Marist are meeting for the very first time in program history.
- William & Mary leads the all-time series, 21-20, but the Cavaliers are winners of the last five meetings … The Tribe’s last win over UVA was a sweep in Williamsburg in 2001 … UVA’s first-ever match was against the Tribe on Sept. 26, 1979, a loss in Williamsburg.
