CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Twelve Virginia volleyball players were named to the 2022 All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team, the conference office announced Tuesday (Jan. 31). UVA and Pittsburgh were the only two programs in the league to boast at least 12 recipients.

GG Carvacho Gabby Easton, Kate Johnson, Ashley Le, Mattison Matthews, Madison Morey, Mary Shaffer, Abby Tadder, Grace Turner, Heyli Velasquez, Chloe Wilson and Veresia Yon were all recognized.

Tuesday’s announcement marked Turner and Shaffer’s second career All-ACC Academic Team distinction after both were honored in 2021.

For the second year in a row, Louisville’s Amaya Tillman and Pitt’s Serena Gray were named ACC Volleyball Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
