CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia volleyball head coach Shannon Wells announced the signing of 6-4 middle blocker Lily Gervase (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) on Tuesday (April 25). Gervase becomes the fourth member of the Cavaliers’ 2023 signing class, joining Lauryn Bowie, Nala Cornegy and fellow NC Volleyball Academy club player Meredith Reeg. Gervase is slated to begin training with UVA this summer.

“We are very excited about the addition of Lily and her family to our program this summer,” said Wells. “Lily wants to be great in all aspects of her life, but especially on the volleyball court. She is a terrific fit for UVA and we know her best volleyball is ahead of her. This is her first year of open-level club volleyball and she has improved tremendously since January. We are counting down the days until we get to work with her in August.”
Gervase is set to graduate from Harnett Central High School later this spring. In 2021, she led the conference in total blocks, tallying five or more rejections in 10 matches, and finished second for the Trojans in kills. She was also tabbed Second Team All-Record in 2021, her junior season.
Gervase was named a 2022 AVCA Watch List selection and a 2023 PrepVolleyball.com Watch List honoree.
Gervase is the daughter of Tom and Stephanie Gervase. She has three brothers, Paul, Will and Brendan. Paul Gervase, who transferred to LSU to play baseball in 2022 after a two-year playing stint at the junior-college level, was recently drafted in the 12th round of the MLB Draft by the New York Mets.
