Virginia Volleyball || Virginia Signs Transfer Elayna Duprey

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia volleyball head coach Shannon Wells announced the signing of outside hitter/right side Elayna Duprey, a transfer from Virginia Tech, on Monday (Jan. 8).

We are extremely excited to add Elayna ‘E’ Duprey to our program,” Wells said. “She’s athletic and physical with a big arm who has already proven she can score points in the ACC. We believe E’s best volleyball is ahead of her as she is still new to the outside hitter position after spending the majority of her career in the middle and right side.  We only have one year with E and are excited to make it count starting in this semester.”

Duprey comes to UVA after a three-year stint with the Hokies from 2021-23. During her time in Blacksburg, she appeared in 191 sets across 65 matches, tallying a total of 374 kills and 204 digs. In 2023, Duprey posted a career year after leading Virginia Tech with 222 kills, including a career-high 19 kills and 15 digs against East Carolina.

On the high school level, Duprey was a three-time VISAA state champion at Flint Hill. She was named to the all-conference team from 2017-19, as well as to the all-state team as a freshman and sophomore. Duprey ended her high school career with a 98-2 record and finished with 186 total blocks.

Duprey is the daughter of Kathy Wilson-Duprey, who was an All-American basketball player at North Carolina, and Michael Duprey, who played football at Iowa. She plans to major in American studies at Virginia.
