Volleyball Announces 2024 Schedule



Cal will make its debut as a member of the ACC this fall.


Bears Open ACC Play At Louisville, Notre Dame

BERKELEY – California volleyball has released its complete 2024 schedule, highlighted by three nonconference matches against former Pac-12 foes and a strong ACC schedule that will allow the Golden Bears to test their progress against many of the nation’s top teams. Cal will host an exhibition against UC Davis on August 24 before officially opening the season at the Rose City Showdown Presented by Hotel Vance in Portland (Aug. 30-31). The Bears will compete in two additional tournaments: the Beehive Invitational, split between Salt Lake City and Logan, Utah, on Sept. 5-6, followed by the Colorado Classic in Boulder, Colorado (Sept. 13-15).
 
ACC play begins on Friday, Sept. 27, when the Bears travel to traditional powerhouse Louisville before heading to South Bend, Indiana, on Sept. 29 for a match at Notre Dame. Cal’s first home ACC weekend features matchups with Wake Forest (Oct. 4) and North Carolina State (Oct. 6).
 
The Bears will face cross-Bay rival Stanford twice in the same week – first at home on Oct. 23 and then at Stanford on Oct. 25. Other former Pac-12 opponents slated to take the court with Cal include Utah (Sept. 5) and Colorado (Sept. 14) on the road and UCLA (Sept. 21) at home.
 
Cal’s Senior Day will take place on Nov. 30, a home rematch against Notre Dame.
 
Five of Cal’s 2024 opponents ended the 2023 season listed in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25. Pittsburgh was the highest ranked of those at No. 4, followed by Stanford (No. 5), Louisville (No. 6), Purdue (No. 13) and Georgia Tech (No. 14). The Bears finished last year with a record of 16-15, led by Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Xuemeng (Maggie) Li.
