Volleyball Dominates Against Butler and Ohio

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri (6-3) dominated in a pair of matches, 3-2 to Ohio and 3-1 to Butler on Friday, Sept. 16 to open the Bulldog Brawl.

Sophomore outside hitter Kaylee Cox led the Mizzou attack in each match, recording a pair of double-doubles, to push the Tigers over both the Bobcats and Bulldogs.

MATCH ONE: MIZZOU 3, OHIO 2

Mizzou topped Ohio in four sets, dropping the first 22-25 but taking the next three by margins of 25-14, 25-27, 21-25, 29-27 and 15-10 respectively. Cox rode a career-best, 22-kill performance for the Tigers while the Bobcats were led by Caitlin O’Farrell with 22 kills.

The Tigers used a strong serve to keep pressure on the Tigers, recording six aces in the match. Mizzou’s serve also kept Ohio out of system, leading to six total blocks for the Tigers. 

MATCH TWO: MIZZOU 3, BUTLER 1

In the nightcap, Mizzou’s offense came out firing as the Tigers outdueled the Bulldogs 22-55, 25-15, 25-22 and 25-14.

Cox led the Tigers a career-best 24 kills while Senior Anna Dixon added 16 kills to the Mizzou effort.
