Volleyball Drops Heartbreaker in Five

Johns Hopkins

The Muhlenberg volleyball team dropped a thrilling five-set match at Ursinus.

After splitting two sets that weren’t close, the Mules (10-6, 0-2) and Bears (8-8, 1-1) played three straight that were decided by the minimum two points. Muhlenberg took the third set, 25-23, but Ursinus overcame a 22-20 deficit to claim the fourth, 25-23.

Muhlenberg cut a 12-8 deficit to 12-11 in the decisive fifth set, but the teams traded points the rest of the way and Ursinus won, 15-13.

Junior Esmae Oehler and sophomore Christina Marcin led the Mule attack with 13 and 10 kills, respectively, while Marcin added 17 digs for her third double-double in the last five matches.

Three other players reached double figures in digs, led by senior Alyssa Faville with 20. Freshman Jenny Ryan (pictured above) and senior Christina Dalton both recorded double-doubles in assists and digs.
