Volleyball Drops Tight Contest at Indiana

Purdue

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Michigan State volleyball dropped a back-and-forth battle at Indiana, 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 19-25, 25-22), on Friday night at Wilkinson Hall.

“I told the team there was a lot of good in tonight’s match,” said Michigan State volleyball head coach Leah Johnson. “We’re still just a little too high error offensively and that’s what we have to clean up. I like what we’re doing, but disappointed in the close sets that we weren’t able to prevail. We get stuck in one rotation every set and that’s the difference.”

The Spartans move to 7-7 overall (0-3 B1G) while Indiana improves to 8-5 (1-2 B1G).

MSU will look to secure its first B1G victory of the season on Sunday at No. 10-ranked Purdue. Sunday night’s match will be televised nationally at 7:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network with Connor Onion and Elena Shkylar calling the action.

Senior libero Nalani Iosia led the way with 20 digs, her fifth time this season registering 20 or more digs in a match. Freshman defensive specialist Mya Bolton drew her first career start in the Green & White, tallying a season-high nine digs.

Junior outside hitters Akasha Anderson (13 kills) and Taylor Preston (11 kills) finished the match with double-digit kills, while senior opposite Aliyah Moore had eight. Moore added a season-best five blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Taylah Holdem had five kills on .400 hitting and four digs.

Senior setter Julia Bishop recorded a season-high 36 assists and neared a double-double with eight digs. Sophomore middle blocker Zuzanna Kulig posted eight blocks.

The Spartans hit .162 for the match but picked things up in set…
