Volleyball Falls To No. 22 Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Ole Miss was unable to slow down the hot-hitting Wildcat attack, falling to No. 22 Kentucky 3-1 on Sunday inside Rupp Arena.
 
The Rebels (8-9, 2-4 SEC) struggled to side out, leading to large scoring runs for Kentucky (7-7, 5-1 SEC). Ole Miss battled with the nation’s No. 22 team, taking the second set off the Wildcats, but ran out of steam.
 
A big block by Payton Brgoch brought the Rebels within one at 7-8 early in the set, but the Wildcats quickly ran away with the set. Kentucky went on a 4-0 run, forcing Bre Henry to call her first timeout. Ole Miss managed to side out, but another 5-1 scoring run increased the deficit to seven. Kentucky quickly ended things, grabbing a 1-0 lead with a 25-14 set victory.
 
Ole Miss turned the page in set two. A kill from Vivian Miller gave the Rebels control of the set early on, and a block by Sasha Ratliff sparked a 3-0 run into a Kentucky timeout at 10-7. The Wildcats pulled back even at 16, but a kill by Nia Washington kept UK from taking the lead. Two plays later, Brgoch and Washington went up and rejected the Wildcat attack and scored three unanswered to build up a four-point advantage. Kentucky never made things easy for the Rebels, taking the set beyond 25 points and fighting off three set points. Ole Miss finished off the set with a double block by Ratliff and Washington to even the match at one set each.
