Volleyball Hosts Florida To Close Out Regular Season


RALLY POINTS

• Ole Miss closes out the regular season in Oxford against Florida on November 25 and 26.

• The Rebels will honor three seniors before Saturday’s match in Anna Bair, Riley Fischer and Maggie Miller.

Samantha Schnitta has finished with double-digit kills in each of the last five matches. She’s totaled 66 and is hitting at a .309 clip over that span.

• Setter Aly Borellis ranks 11th nationally among freshmen with 9.86 assists per set.

Payton Brgoch’s 118 total blocks this year rank two shy of cracking the top five for most in a single season. She ranks ninth in the SEC with 1.15 blocks per set.

Sasha Ratliff is attacking at an extremely high rate, boasting the second-best attacking percentage in the SEC with a .354 clip.

• Freshmen Aly Borellis, Cammy Niesen and Vivian Miller have turned heads in the SEC, garnering a combined four weekly honors this season.

• Senior Anna Bair picked up her 1,000th career kill on September 30, becoming the 15th Rebel in program history to accomplish the feat. She is set to play in her 100th career match on Friday.

SCOUTING THE GATORS

Head coach Mary Wise and No. 12 Florida boast a 21-5 record on the season with a 13-3 mark in SEC play, tied for the conference lead. They come to Oxford having split the weekend series with Kentucky. The Gators are led by sophomore right-side Merritt Beason and senior outside hitter Marina Markova, who are both within striking distance of 300 kills on the season. Defensively, Elli McKissock sets the pace with 3.74 digs per set, and Gabbi Essix leads the team with 1.23 blocks per set.

SERIES HISTORY

Florida leads the all-time series with Ole Miss 57-7. The Rebels are looking for their first win over the Gators since 1989.

PREVIOUS MEETING

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ole Miss was unable to overcome a strong defensive effort from Florida, falling 3-0. Anna Bair led the Rebels with 10 kills, but the Rebels were unable to get past a Florida team that hit at a .349 clip. In the first set, Ole Miss struggled to contain the Florida attack, with the Gators leading by as many as eight. The Rebs cut the deficit to four at 20-16 but were unable to complete the comeback as UF took set one, 25-17. A 7-0 run propelled the Gators to take a 9-3 lead in set two.
