Syracuse Volleyball is set for its second-to-last road tilt of the 2022 season, with matchups against #7 Pitt and Boston College on tap this weekend. The Orange will face the Panthers on Friday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. (ACCNX) and will square off against the Eagles on Sunday, Nov. 13 at noon (ACCN).
 
Syracuse trails in the all-time series against Pittsburgh, 43-11. The squads first met on Oct. 8, 1982, where the Orange lost 2-1 to the Panthers. Their last meeting occurred just a week ago, where Pitt secured a 3-0 Orange defeat. Syracuse’s most recent win over Pitt was a 3-0 sweep on Sept. 26, 2020.
 
The clash against Pitt will air live on the ACCN at noon.’Cuse has locked in two victories in front of a national tv audience this season, as it has defeated ACC foes Boston College and North Carolina. In both of the five-set victories, the Orange captured sets two, three, and five.
 
The matchup on Wednesday night marks the 50th all-time meeting against Boston College. The Orange lead the series, 39-10. In their most recent meeting, the Orange took a 3-2 victory to open conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 21. 
 
The last time Syracuse met a ranked opponent was this past Friday, when the squad fell 0-3 to #7 Pitt.
 
The last time Syracuse beat a ranked opponent was on Nov. 27th, 2015, when the Orange swept #15 Louisville 3-0. The straight-set victory over Louisville marked the first time since 2012 the Orange have beaten a ranked opponent. Syracuse defeated No. 18 Iowa State in five sets to take the Iowa State Tournament crown during the 2012 season.

Friday’s match against Pitt will be a family gathering for the Akeo’s, as Assistant Coach Lesli Akeo will face two of her sisters, senior setter Lexis Akeo and Director of Volleyball Operations Kamalani Akeo, for the second time. During Lesli Akeo‘s time as an assistant at Kapalama High School, she coached Lexis who was the 2018 Hawaii Gatorade State Player of the Year.
