COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Volleyball Head Coach Dawn Sullivan and her staff announced Wednesday the signing of graduate transfer Mychael Vernon.
Vernon, a 5-11 outside hitter from Ossining, New York, heads to Mizzou after playing four seasons at Oregon State.
She earned 2023 All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention laurels after she paced the Beavers with 428 kills (3.57 kills/set) on a .232 hitting percentage. Vernon was also second on OSU with 305 digs to go with 21 assists and 15 aces.
She notched 24 double-digit kills performances, including 15 of the final 18 matches in 2023. In Pac-12 play, Vernon notched nine double-doubles.
The New York product registered a career-best 26 kills and 29 points at Cal Baptist (Sept. 9). She also compiled a 19-kill, 21-dig (career high) double-double outing in a five-set victory over Arizona (Oct. 15) for Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Vernon registered 1,065 kills and 558 digs over her career with Oregon State and became the 17th Beaver to surpass 1,000 career kills. She notched 60 double-digit kill matches over her OSU career.
Vernon was also named Jamaica Volleyball’s Female Athlete of the Year in January. She led Jamaica to their first senior level championship at the 2023 CAZOVA Women’s Championship, earning Most Valuable Player, Best Receiver and Best Outside Hitter at the tournament.
In high school, Vernon earned 2019 Under Armour First Team All-American and New York Gatorade Player of the Year.
