Volleyball Sweeps First Day of Bobcat Invitational

SAN MARCOS, Texas Ole Miss volleyball picked up its first two wins of the season, going undefeated on the first day of the Bobcat Invitational. The Rebels swept Sam Houston and downed Texas State 3-1 Friday inside Strahan Arena.
 
Anna Bair had her way with the opposing team, notching double-digit kills in both matches, the 49th and 50th time she has accomplished that feat in her career. The senior racked up 30 kills and hit at a .481 clip over the span of both matches. Sophomore Katie Corelli also shined in the victories, topping her career-high with 10 and 12 kills.

Ole Miss picked up its first victory of 2022, sweeping Sam Houston behind a strong offensive showing. The Rebels hit .420 as a team led by Bair, Corelli and Payton Brgoch, who all finished with double-figure kills. Meauna Booth also made her Ole Miss debut, getting the start at middle blocker.
 
After working from behind early in set one, Julia Dyess tied the match up at 14 apiece and went back to the service line, where an ace gave Ole Miss its first lead. Coming out of the media timeout, the Rebels rattled off seven unanswered points to take control. From there, Bair and Brgoch closed things out as Ole Miss took the opening set 25-18.
 
The Rebels caught fire in the second set, hitting at a .500 clip. It all started with an 8-1 run to open the scoring, forcing Sam Houston to call a timeout and regroup.
