Volleyball Sweeps to Eighth Win

Swarthmore

The Muhlenberg volleyball team came from behind in all three sets in a Centennial Conference road sweep of Bryn Mawr.

Freshman Abigail Oswari led the Mules (8-10, 2-3) with 10 kills, adding a career-high 9 digs to narrowly miss her first double-double. Senior Brooke Shiver finished with 9 kills, while sophomore Jenny Ryan recorded 23 assists, 8 digs and 5 aces.

Muhlenberg trailed 7-3 in the first set before reeling off six straight points, two on aces, behind the serving of freshman Megan Bagrosky. The Owls (4-13, 0-4) led 12-10 before a 5-0 run with Shiver serving gave the Mules the lead for good. A kill by Shiver (pictured above) finished off the 25-19 win.

Bryn Mawr led 12-11 midway through the second set before a 13-1 run on the serves of Ryan and Oswari gave Muhlenberg a commanding lead. Shiver again closed the set with a kill.

The Owls sprinted out to a 10-3 advantage in the third set before the Mules scored eight straight points behind the serving of Ryan, who notched three of her aces in the run. Freshman Emma Laskaj served back-to-back aces later in the set, and freshman Olivia Bruno appropriately ended the match with an ace, Muhlenberg’s 14th of the match.

Shiver, who achieved her career high of 9 kills twice in her first three seasons, has now matched that total in each of her last two matches.
