BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech volleyball team and head coach Marci Byers welcome Morgan Goodman as the team’s new director of operations, Byers announced on Monday morning. Goodman joins the Hokies from Southwest Baptist University where she was the head beach volleyball coach, as well as an assistant coach for indoor volleyball.
“I’ve known Morgan and her family since she was 16,” Byers said. “She is a tireless worker and is a great addition to our staff.”
At Southwest Baptist, Goodman was the head coach of the beach volleyball team in its inaugural season in 2023. During that time, she led the team to eight wins, including the flight one pair of Bailey Lasater and Azalea Clendenning posting a record of 16-4 with wins over five Division I teams.
Goodman also served as an assistant for the indoor program since 2020, helping in all aspects of each program from recruiting, operations, travel, among other duties. As the assistant, Goodman helped SBU to its best record in over 10 years during the 2022 season, as well as the development of freshman starter Ella Rademaker, who recorded the most kills by a freshman in a single season.
As a player for Byers at Radford, Goodman graduated with a B.S. in Exercise, Sport and Health Education with a concentration in Sport Administration in 2019. She was a six-rotation outside hitter for the Highlanders.
Prior to her time at Radford, Goodman was a member of the volleyball team at Lewis University (2017 and 2018) as well as Saint Louis University in 2016. She will receive her Master’s in Business Administration from Southwest Baptist University in December.
Originally from Saint Louis, Mo., Goodman’s parents Brett and Dawn now live in Richmond, Va. Goodman also has one sister, Haleigh.
